signed up today
... for the Oklahoma City Marathon on April 25.
I started running, somewhat tentatively (2 miles per weeek, that is) in December. In January I picked up some conviction. For whatever reason, it does not come easy.
The most I did so far was an uncomfortable 16 miles, a cold and back-breaking run, the wind like the blade of a knife against my skin, the pain like the edge of a saw at my spine. I strived to put all the thoughts of running out of my mind, and I ran. It worked.
Even when I do not think, I know every step takes me closer. I am running to Oklahoma.
